Answer: A. 1 and 2 only

Verdict

The answer is 1 and 2 only. The Global Climate Change Alliance is a European Union initiative giving technical and financial support to developing countries, but it is not coordinated by WRI and WBCSD.

Analysis

Statement 1 is CORRECT. The Alliance was established by the European Union in 2007 to strengthen dialogue and cooperation with developing countries, in particular least developed countries and small island developing states. Statement 2 is CORRECT. It acts as a source of technical and financial support helping targeted countries integrate climate change into development policy and budgets. Statement 3 is INCORRECT. The World Resources Institute and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development jointly author the Greenhouse Gas Protocol, a separate accounting standard, and neither coordinates this Alliance.

How to crack it

Statement 3 is a borrowed fact, since WRI and WBCSD genuinely do co author something famous, just not this. Whenever two organisations appear together as a pair, ask what that pair is actually known for, and if the association does not match the subject, reject it. Note also the internal tension: an alliance founded by the European Union would be coordinated by European Union institutions rather than by two independent bodies.
