Show answer
Answer: B. Black Sea and Mediterranean Sea
Verdict
The answer is between the Black Sea and the Mediterranean Sea. Turkey lies with the Black Sea to its north and the Mediterranean to its south.
Analysis
Turkey's Anatolian landmass is bounded by the Black Sea in the north, the Aegean in the west and the Mediterranean in the south, and the Bosporus, Sea of Marmara and Dardanelles run through it, connecting the Black Sea to the Mediterranean and separating Europe from Asia. The Caspian option is wrong because the Caspian lies well to the east, bordered by Russia, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Iran and Azerbaijan. The Gulf of Suez and the Gulf of Aqaba and Dead Sea options describe Egypt and the Levant respectively.

How to crack it
Turkish geography is worth knowing precisely because the straits are permanently newsworthy, from grain shipments to naval passage under the Montreux Convention. For any country between two seas question, locate the country first and read outward, rather than testing each pair of seas. Keeping a rough mental map of the Black Sea, Caspian, Mediterranean and Red Sea basins, with which countries touch each, resolves this whole question type quickly.
